Mild cold wave is sweeping over Naogaon, Panchagarh, Jessore and Chuadanga districts, the Meteorological Department said. Yesterday the minimum temperature was 10 degrees Celsius in Naogaon and Jessore, 9.8 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga and 8.7 degrees Celsius in Panchagarh. Meteorologist Tariful Newaz Kabir said that from midnight to morning moderate to thick fog may fall in some areas of the country. Weather will be mainly dry with partly cloudy skies. It did not rain anywhere in the country from 6 am on Thursday to 6 am on Friday. The weather forecast for the next 24 hours says that day and night temperatures may remain almost unchanged across the country. On Thursday, the lowest temperature in the country was 8.7 degrees Celsius in Tentulia. The maximum temperature was 29 degrees Celsius in Cox's Bazar. The minimum temperature in Dhaka was 14.7 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature was 24.2 degrees Celsius. Wind speed in Dhaka was 8 to 12 km per hour from north-northwest direction. Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa has been re-elected as the mayor of Rangpur City Corporation. He got a total of 1 lakh 46 thousand 798 votes. His nearest rival, the Islami Andolan Bangladesh's Amiruzzaman Piyal, got 49,892 votes.  On the other hand, Awami League nominated candidate Lutfa Dalia got 22 thousand 306 votes, he is in the fourth place in the competition. On the other hand, Awami League's rebel candidate Latifur Rahman is in the third position with 33 thousand 833 votes.

Md. Siful Islam has been awarded as the Best Emerging Entrepreneur in the 'Freelancer Award 2022' arranged by the Freelancers Association of Bangladesh. He was given this award for his special contribution to Freelancing.  On December 17, 2022, the Award was announced through a ceremony. Md. Siful Islam is one of the promising freelancer in the country who becomes self-reliant with own effort and showing dreams to many youths. During student life, he started his entrepreneurship journey.  In 2016, he bought only two computers and started freelancing. In a very short time, he realised that there is no  inadequacy of job in the market, just need to be skilled. Siful has employed 65 people so far through his ‘Advanced Skills Development Institute'. The academy provide different courses on Graphic Design, Web Coding. Bangladesh has around 650 thousand freelancers, with roughly 1,600 organisations in freelancing. While informing about awarding, Siful said, I feel very honored. Being out of the country, I could not receive the award in person. But I want to thank the organizers for honoring me.

5 people were killed in a three-way collision between Truck-Autorickshaw-Ambulance at Nengtichira area of Rangpur. In this accident, four people died on the spot and one person is undergoing treatment in the hospital.  However, name and address were not initially known.  The accident took place on Monday (December 19) around 7 pm near the Nengtichira bridge in Taraganj on the Rangpur-Dinajpur highway. Traffic on the road has been stopped due to this incident. Police are trying to normalize the situation.

The Coast Guard has seized a large quantity of narcotics in separate operations at Teknaf and St. Martin in Cox's Bazar. At this time, a young man named Tarek Alam (23) was arrested. Lieutenant Commander Abdur Rahman, media officer of the Coast Guard Headquarters, gave this information on Monday, December 19 at noon.  It is known that on the basis of secret information, a team of Bangladesh Coast Guard conducted a special operation in the area adjacent to Shahpari Island by BCG Station Saint Martin under East Zone on Monday morning. During the operation, two persons were seen coming from Jhauwban area, adjacent to the south beach of Shapuree Island. Seeing their movements suspicious, Coast Guard personnel signal them to stop. When they realized the presence of the Coast Guard, they fled quickly.  Later, a bag hidden in the bushes was recovered by raiding the Casuarina forest. The bag was searched and 925 grams of crystal meth (ice) was seized. Estimated value of the crystal meth is around four crore sixty two lakh fifty thousand taka. On the other hand, another team conducted a special operation in the old Pallan Para area under Teknaf Police Station during the same period of time. During the operation, the Coast Guard personnel signaled Tareq Alam to stop when his movements appeared suspicious. On sensing the presence of the Coast Guard, Tareq tried to flee quickly, but the Coast Guard managed to chase him down and arrest him. 13 thousand 300 pieces of Yaba were seized after searching a bag belonging to the arrested Tareq. On the other hand, an operation was conducted in Paraban area adjacent to Naf river in  Naitongpara under Teknaf police station. During the raid, a dinghy was seen in the river bank. The Coast Guard personnel signaled the boat to stop as movement of the dinghy seemed suspicious. At that time, the sailor in the boat realized the presence of the coast guard and left the boat on the shore and fled quickly.  Later, the boat was searched and 213 cans of beer, 50 bottles of foreign liquor were seized. The seized crystal meth (ice), yaba, beer, foreign liquor, canoe boat and the arrested person have been handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station. Teknaf thana stated that legal action would be taken later.
