A tribunal has sentenced six people to death for killing retired primary school teacher Anil Kumar Das and his wife Kalpana Rani in Tangail.
Judge of the Dhaka’s speedy trial tribunal-1 Abu Jafar Md. Kamruzzaman passed the order on Sunday.
The death sentence awarded accused are- Swapan Kumar Das, Zahidul Islam, Farhad, Moniruzzaman Bhuiyan, Manzurul Islam and Sayan Mia.
According to the case report, to grab the land property of victim Anil Kumar, his step brother Swapan Kumar Das and drug addicted associates- Moniruzzaman, Farhad, Manzurul, Zahid and Sayan Mia hatched conspiracy to take his (Anil) signature on three stamps. On July 26, 2017 according to their plan they killed Anil Kumar Das and his wife Kalpana Rani at Rasulpur residence in Tangail. After killing they dumped the bodies in the septic tank of the house. Later police recovered the bodies.
In this connection victims’ son Nirmal Kumar Das filed a case with Tangail sadar police station.
