In a significant move to cater to the religious preferences of Bangladeshi migrant workers, Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul announced on Tuesday that Probashi Kallyan Bank is set to introduce a Sharia-based loan scheme.

Taking to his verified Facebook account, Dr. Nazrul shared the development, stating, "Good news for expatriate brothers. The Sharia-based loan programme is going to be launched soon from the Probashi Kallyan Bank."

The Adviser revealed that following a discussion with the bank’s Managing Director today, he was assured the new financial product would be ready for launch within January 2026.

This initiative follows recommendations from prominent Islamic scholar Shaykh Ahmadullah, whom Dr. Nazrul credited for inspiring the transition toward Islamic banking facilities for overseas workers.

The introduction of Sharia-compliant financing is expected to provide a more inclusive platform for expatriates who prefer interest-free banking, further facilitating their migration and reintegration processes.
