Economist Dr. Golam Moazzem Appointed President of Knowledge Hub Institute Trust

Eminent economist, policy researcher, and development practitioner Dr. Khondaker Golam Moazzem officially assumed office as the President of the Knowledge Hub Institute Trust, effective October 2026.

The Knowledge Hub Institute operates as an action-oriented think-and-do tank currently focusing on four fundamental streams: clean energy transition, macroeconomic and public finance management, finance and banking systems, alongside employment and skills development.

Dr. Moazzem brings more than two decades of extensive professional expertise in economic research, public policy formulation, and institutional development.

Broadly acknowledged among Bangladesh's foremost policy researchers, he has made substantive contributions to national policy deliberations through his extensive work spanning industrial development, trade and investment, labor markets, private sector competitiveness, sustainable development, social safety nets, and energy transition.

Before taking charge at the Knowledge Hub Institute, Dr. Moazzem served as the Research Director at the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD).

In that capacity, he was central to steering the institution's overarching research framework and deepening collaboration with government decision-makers, international development partners, business leaders, and civil society actors.

Over his extended tenure at CPD, he directed numerous influential research projects and policy dialogues that facilitated evidence-based policy reforms and informed governance decisions across Bangladesh.

Academically, Dr. Moazzem earned his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Area Studies from Kyoto University in Japan, after completing both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Economics at the University of Dhaka.

Across his scholarly and professional journey, he has consistently blended rigorous academic research with pragmatic policy intervention, gaining wide recognition for his analytical insights and intellectual stewardship.

His extensive portfolio of professional and applied research covers a vast spectrum of developmental and economic policy domain—encompassing manufacturing competitiveness, small and medium enterprise (SME) development, labor rights, employment generation, renewable energy, climate change, international trade, private capital investment, and social protection mechanisms.

Additionally, Dr. Moazzem has served in diverse advisory and consultative roles for government bodies, trade bodies, international development agencies, and global institutions, directly driving policy formulation and institutional reforms across multiple national sectors.

In his executive role as President of the Knowledge Hub Institute, Dr. Moazzem will offer overarching strategic direction to fulfill the Institute's objectives of fostering research excellence, policy innovation, knowledge dissemination, and institutional capacity building.

He will directly supervise the think tank’s strategic goals, core research portfolios, external partnerships, and public outreach initiatives, marking a major milestone in the expansion of the Knowledge Hub Institute.

The Board of Trustees, executive management, research personnel, and administrative staff at the Knowledge Hub Institute offered a warm welcome to Dr. Khondaker Golam Moazzem, expressing confidence in his leadership to advance the organization's vision and broaden its footprint as a premier hub for high-impact research, policy engagement, and capacity development.
