A fire broke out at the Banani residence of renowned singer, composer, and music director Bappa Mazumder early Thursday morning (May 22), putting his family in grave danger.
According to Bappa, the fire started on the ground floor of the building. He was alerted through the intercom and attempted to evacuate, only to find the entire area filled with thick smoke. Visibility was nearly zero, and panic set in as he felt the heat of the flames on his face. For a few tense moments, he and his family took refuge on their balcony, unsure of how to proceed.
In that critical moment, Bappa contacted lyricist Shahan Kabandh, who lives nearby. With his assistance, Bappa managed to safely evacuate the apartment along with his wife, actress Tania Hossain, and their two daughters.
Sharing the traumatic experience on social media, Bappa wrote, "We narrowly escaped the fire in our building. Thankfully, we’re all safe. I am deeply grateful to the Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defense. Their swift action prevented what could have been a major tragedy. It was a terrifying experience— one that still haunts me."
Bappa Mazumder and Tania Hossain got engaged on May 16, 2018, in the presence of close family members. They tied the knot in a private ceremony on June 24 that same year. The couple welcomed their first daughter in December 2019 and their second in October 2024.
