Nearly a decade after falling victim to an armed robbery in Paris in 2016 where over $6 million worth of jewelry was stolen, American star Kim Kardashian has been awarded just 1 euro in damages by a Paris court.

However, this token amount of 1 euro was precisely what she had requested.

Following the ruling handed down on Tuesday (September 15), Kardashian made it clear that she does not view the verdict in financial terms.

According to a joint statement given to the Associated Press (AP) by her and her makeup artist, Simone Harouche, the judgment stands as a symbol of accountability and the acknowledgment of what transpired.

Kardashian described the 2016 robbery as the most terrifying experience of her life, noting that its lasting impact has remained with her and her family.

Nonetheless, she expressed a desire to leave the incident behind and move forward.

Details of the 2016 Robbery
On October 2, 2016, while staying at a hotel during Paris Fashion Week, two robbers dressed as police officers forced their way into Kardashian's room.

The thieves bound her with zip ties and tape before fleeing with over $6 million in jewelry, which included a diamond ring she had worn to a fashion show earlier that night.

Because of their advanced age, members of the robber gang became known in France as the "Grandpa Robbers", with six of them aged between 60 and 70 during the trial.

Last year, a court found eight people guilty in connection with the heist.

Because they had already served time in pre-trial detention, none of the convicts had to return to prison, and none of them appealed the verdict.

The matter of compensation was subsequently brought to court for a hearing.

Court Rulings and Compensation Breakdown
Alongside awarding 1 euro to Kim Kardashian, the court also granted 1 euro in damages to her makeup artist, Simone Harouche, who was present at the scene during the robbery.

Additionally, compensation was awarded to other parties affected:

Former hotel employee: Awarded €109,516 (having initially claimed €550,000 for mental distress and interest). The lawyer representing the former employee welcomed the court's decision.

Hotel management/authorities: Awarded €50,000.

Victims' Response and Moving Forward
Following the verdict, Kardashian and Harouche issued a joint statement expressing gratitude to the French judicial system.

Reiterating that the ordeal was deeply traumatic and still lingers in their minds, they emphasized that the court's decision goes beyond financial compensation—it is a testament to accountability and validation for the victims.

Kardashian added that while she will never forget the incident, she believes in human resilience and the power of accountability, and she and her family are now ready to move past the chapter entirely.
