The Artist Club Ltd. has announced an 11-day celebration of its first anniversary, featuring a historic fusion of Bangladeshi and French opera for the first time in Bangladesh.
The festival will take place from November 11 to 21, 2026, with a series of cultural programmes, including a nationwide art competition, a 10-day ethnic and folk music festival, and a grand closing ceremony at the Grand Ballroom of Hotel InterContinental in the city.
The announcement was made at a press briefing held at Pearl Hall Room of Hotel InterContinental Dhaka today.
The press briefing was attended by Sujit Mustafa, renowned singer and president of The Artist Club Ltd.; Prof A. H. M. Mustafizur Rahman, chief coordinator of the first anniversary celebration committee; Frédéric Inza, deputy head of mission at the Embassy of France in Bangladesh; singer Mahfuzar Rahman, representing the Dhaka University Cultural Foundation (DUCF); and Olivier Loreaux, director of food and beverage at Hotel InterContinental Dhaka.
In the keynote address, Prof. Dr. A. H. M. Mustafizur Rahman outlined the festival's programme.
He said The Artist Club Ltd. began its journey three years ago with the vision of nurturing promising young talents in Bangladesh. The organization received official registration in 2025 and has since successfully organised more than 200 episodes of its signature programme, 'Friday Musical Performance'.
As part of its first-anniversary celebration, the organisation has planned three major initiatives. The first is a nationwide art competition titled 'Atelier Award: Young Painters of Tomorrow', targeting artists aged 20 to 35 from universities, art colleges and freelance backgrounds. The initiative aims to identify, encourage and empower promising young artists.
The second is a 10-day Ethnic and Folk Music Festival, scheduled for November 11–20 in collaboration with Hotel InterContinental Dhaka.
The festival will showcase Bangladesh's rich and diverse musical heritage, including Baul, Bhatiyali, Bhawaiya, Gambhira, Lalon, Hason Raja, Manipuri, Chakma, Marma, Santal and Hajong traditions, alongside other cultural forms.
The celebration will conclude on November 21 with a special musical programme featuring a fusion of Bangladeshi and French opera at the Grand Ballroom of Hotel InterContinental Dhaka.
