The national tally of fatalities linked to measles-like clinical signs has reached 684 after eight more children lost their lives displaying symptoms of the disease over the past 24 hours.

This tracking update spans from March 15 through July 16, as detailed in an official press release issued on Thursday by the Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The health authority noted that no new fatalities from laboratory-confirmed measles were documented within the last 24 hours.

The collective toll of clinically verified measles deaths remains at 95 for the period beginning March 15.

According to the DGHS data statement, health facilities registered 974 fresh suspected cases of the illness over the last 24 hours, driving the cumulative total of suspected infections to 115,138 since mid-March.

Additionally, 197 new laboratory-confirmed measles infections were logged over the single-day tracking window, pushing the aggregate count of verified infections to 14,104 since March 15.

The press release further highlighted that hospital facilities across the country admitted a total of 97,819 individuals exhibiting suspected symptoms of the disease between March 15 and July 16.

Out of those hospitalized, 94,275 individuals have fully recovered and have been discharged from medical centers.
