Dengue Claims 5 More Lives in 24 Hours, 1,872 New Patients Hospitalized Nationwide

Health authorities on Tuesday reported recording 1,872 new dengue cases alongside at least five fatalities resulting from the mosquito-borne illness over the past 24 hours.

A bulletin issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) detailed that out of the 1,872 newly registered patients, 190 individuals were admitted to hospitals in Barishal division, 285 in Chattogram division, 391 in Dhaka division, 191 within the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) jurisdiction, 159 under the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) area, 316 in Khulna division, 105 in Mymensingh division, 162 in Rajshahi division, 67 in Rangpur division, and six across Sylhet division.

Since the onset of the viral outbreak this year, Bangladesh has recorded a cumulative toll of 195 deaths alongside 65,499 total infections.

In comparison, the dengue outbreak claimed 413 lives and affected 102,861 individuals nationwide last year, following a previous impact in 2024 when the disease caused 575 deaths and infected 101,214 people.
