Voting for the seventh and final phase of India's 18th Lok Sabha elections has begun.

According to the local media NDTV report, the country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi is contesting this round. He is the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Varanasi seat in Uttar Pradesh. His main opponent in the seat is Ajay Rai of the Indian National Congress.

Voting began at 7:00am and will end at 6:00pm

India's Lok Sabha elections began on April 19, the world's largest democracy. Out of the seven phases, voting has been held in 486 seats in six phases. Polling for 57 seats in seven states and one Union Territory will be held in the seventh and final phase on Saturday. A total of 904 candidates are contesting in this phase.

Ajay Rai lost against Modi in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
