The vote counting for the 18th Lok Sabha elections in India is underway on Tuesday (June 4). The counting of votes began at 8:30 am after one and a half months of voting in seven phases. Earlier, exit polls had predicted a landslide victory for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's BJP-led NDA coalition, but situation changed barely two hours after the votes were counted.

The Congress-led 'India' is showing surprise in the actual results. Even in the afternoon, doubts have arisen about the possibility of getting a majority of the BJP alone. The campaign that Modi started with the slogan of winning more than 400 seats out of 543 seats is not being fulfilled; Rather, it is doubtful whether he will get the 272 seats needed to get a majority.

However, Modi's alliance NDA is almost certain to win the required number of seats to form the government. According to the latest information in the Indian media, the BJP-led NDA alliance is leading over 290 seats. The BJP is leading over 239 seats. In contrast, the Congress-led India alliance is ahead in 235 seats. Unless something miraculous happens, Modi's BJP's chances of getting a single majority are zero.

Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee has once again shown the game in West Bengal. According to the latest results, the Trinamool Congress is leading in 31 of the 42 Lok Sabha seats in the state. In contrast, the BJP is leading in only 9 seats. Congress is leading only one seat.

However, the Lok Sabha elections began on April 19. The seven-phase voting ended on June 1. The counting of votes began at 8 am on Tuesday.
