Over 35 members of ISIS were killed in airstrikes conducted by the U.S. military in Syria, the U.S. military confirmed on Wednesday (October 30).

According to an AFP report, the U.S. military stated that the attacks took place earlier this week. In a statement, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said that the strikes targeted multiple locations in Syria’s desert, aiming at senior ISIS leaders.

The airstrikes disrupted ISIS’s ability to plan, organize, and execute attacks against civilians across Syria and beyond, as well as against U.S. allies and partners. CENTCOM reported no civilian casualties from the strikes on Monday.

CENTCOM also noted that a joint operation between U.S. and Iraqi forces at the end of August killed 14 ISIS fighters, including four leaders, in Iraq’s western desert.

Notably, the U.S. deployed around 900 troops to Syria and 2,500 to Iraq as part of an international coalition against ISIS established in 2014 to support the fight against militants. These forces remain stationed in both countries, with the U.S. military frequently targeting ISIS in Syria and Iraq.
