BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has stated that printing new money will lead to increased inflation in the country's economy. He made this remark at a press conference held at the BNP Chairperson's office in Gulshan, Dhaka, on Saturday (January 18) morning.

Fakhrul said, "During the ongoing economic crisis, the government has imposed VAT and tariffs on 100 products, which will have a negative impact on public life."

Highlighting that the government is unable to meet the budget with current revenue, he added, "The Awami League has effectively destroyed the economy due to their corruption and plundering. Instead of addressing the challenges, the current government decided to increase VAT and tariffs mid-year, which will put extreme pressure on the people."

Mirza Fakhrul accused the interim government of following in the footsteps of the previous Awami League government by printing money, a move he described as highly detrimental to the economy. He believes this will lead to increased inflation, causing significant distress to the public.
