Iran has announced its support for any decision Lebanon makes regarding the implementation of a ceasefire with Israel. On Friday (November 15), during a visit to Beirut, Ali Larijani, an adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, made this statement.

According to a report by Reuters, on Thursday, the U.S. ambassador to Lebanon presented a draft ceasefire proposal to Nabih Berri, Speaker of Lebanon’s Parliament.

This signal from Tehran to end the conflict comes amid intensified aggression by Tel Aviv in Lebanon.

Iran-backed Hezbollah has also expressed its support for Nabih Berri to engage in discussions with Israel. The draft proposal represents the first written offer from the U.S. aimed at Israel and Hezbollah. However, the details of the proposal remain undisclosed.

After meeting with the Lebanese Parliament Speaker, Larijani stated that Berri had explained the draft proposal in detail.

He further added, “I am not here to obstruct the U.S. proposal. Rather, we will support Lebanon’s decisions. Under any circumstances, we stand by the Lebanese government.”

Despite discussions around the ceasefire, Israeli forces have continued their large-scale attacks in Lebanon. On Friday, Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes on multiple buildings in southern suburbs of Beirut, resulting in several casualties.

Videos captured at the scene showed massive explosions and collapsing buildings. Major attacks were reported in areas like Dahiyeh and Tayouneh.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the Israeli Defense Forces claimed that Friday’s twin airstrikes in Beirut’s Dahiyeh section targeted Hezbollah operatives “hiding among civilians,” under the guidance of Israeli intelligence.

Since October last year, when Israeli aggression began in Gaza, clashes between Hezbollah and Israel have persisted. However, Israeli military operations in Lebanon intensified in late September this year.

Hezbollah has also retaliated fiercely, targeting Israeli soldiers in Lebanon and striking deep into Israeli territory with advanced missiles aimed at military bases.
