Another 77 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli strikes on Gaza, with many more injured. This brings the total death toll in the enclave to nearly 50,423.
The casualties occurred in the 24 hours following dawn on Wednesday (April 1st) due to Israeli attacks on Gaza, Al Jazeera reports.
The Gaza Health Ministry announced on Thursday that at least 77 more Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip. As a result, the total number of deaths in the territory since the start of Israel's genocidal aggression in October 2023 has risen to 50,423.
In a statement, the ministry said that more than a hundred additional people injured in Israeli attacks in the past 24 hours have been taken to various hospitals in Gaza. This brings the total number of injured since the beginning of the conflict to 114,638. Many people are still under the rubble and on the streets, and rescue workers have been unable to reach them.
Following 15 months of military operations, Israel agreed to a ceasefire in Gaza on January 19th under pressure from the United States and the international community. Relative peace prevailed in Gaza for nearly two months thereafter; however, Israel resumed airstrikes on Gaza in the third week of March following disagreements with Hamas over the withdrawal of troops from Gaza.
According to the Health Ministry, 1,080 Palestinians have been killed and more than 2,600 others have been injured in renewed Israeli airstrikes on Gaza since March 18th. Israel's brutal attacks have violated the ceasefire agreement that came into effect in January this year.
According to the United Nations, nearly 85 percent of Palestinians in Gaza have been displaced due to Israel's brutal offensive. Additionally, 60 percent of the infrastructure in the besieged territory has been damaged or destroyed.
Earlier in November last year, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its aggression in the besieged territory. Nevertheless, their brutality continues unabated.
