As days pass, the Israeli forces are intensifying their attacks on the Gaza Strip in Palestine. No place remains safe in the blockaded territory. Alongside the indiscriminate military campaign, aid has also been cut off.
While Palestinian deaths from bullets and shelling have become commonplace, the toll of fatalities is also rising due to the lack of food, water, medicine, and medical treatment.
Reports indicate that at least 23 more Palestinians have been killed in recent Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip, with over fifty others injured. This brings the total number of deaths in the besieged territory to over 51,000. Notably, more than 1,600 Palestinians have lost their lives in just 29 days since the latest Israeli offensive began on March 18th.
Al Jazeera reported this information on Wednesday (April 16th), citing several medical sources who stated that at least 23 people were killed in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip since Tuesday morning (April 15th). Reports of further attacks and casualties throughout the blockaded territory continue to emerge.

The military wing of Hamas announced that contact has been lost with a group guarding a US-Israeli soldier, Edan Alexander. This occurred after Israel directly bombed the location where the captive was being held, leading to the communication breakdown.
Meanwhile, the Gaza government media office claims that the actual number of Palestinians killed in the occupying forces' attacks and operations in the besieged territory exceeds 61,700. Their statistics include thousands of missing individuals under the rubble, presumed dead.
Following 15 months of military operations that began on October 7, 2023, Israel agreed to a ceasefire in Gaza on January 19, 2025, under pressure from the United States and the international community. Relative peace prevailed in Gaza for about two months. However, disagreements with Hamas regarding the withdrawal of troops led Israel to resume airstrikes in Gaza from the third week of March.
According to the Health Ministry, 1,630 Palestinians have been killed and over 4,300 others injured in the renewed Israeli offensive in Gaza that began on March 18th. This latest aggression by Israel has shattered the ceasefire agreement that came into effect in January.
According to the United Nations, approximately 85 percent of Palestinians in Gaza have been displaced due to Israeli actions. Furthermore, 60 percent of the infrastructure in the blockaded territory has been damaged or destroyed.
