The humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to deepen as Israeli forces persist with relentless attacks across the besieged territory. Every day, the violence intensifies, leaving no place safe for civilians.
In the latest 24-hour period, Israeli strikes killed at least 53 Palestinians, raising the total death toll to more than 52,200 since October 2023, according to separate reports from Al Jazeera on Monday (April 28).
Al Jazeera further reported that over a hundred Palestinians were injured during the latest wave of attacks. Since Israel's renewed offensive began on March 18, more than 2,100 Palestinians— predominantly women and children— have been killed.
The Gaza Health Ministry confirmed that at least 53 people died in Sunday’s attacks across the enclave. Early Monday morning, an additional 17 fatalities were reported. In total, since the beginning of the Israeli aggression in October 2023, the death toll in Gaza has reached 52,243, according to official figures.
The Ministry also stated that 115 people wounded in recent attacks have been hospitalised, bringing the total number of injuries to 117,639 since the conflict began.
Israel's assault on Gaza was launched in response to a Hamas attack on October 7, 2023. After 15 months of continuous aggression, international pressure, particularly from the United States and other global actors, led to a ceasefire agreement in January 2025. A period of relative calm followed for nearly two months.
However, hostilities resumed in mid-March after disagreements between Israel and Hamas over the withdrawal of Israeli forces. Since the renewed violence began on March 18, approximately 2,151 Palestinians have been killed, with 5,598 more injured. The recent attacks have effectively broken the ceasefire deal established earlier this year.
