Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated that Tehran is not willing to negotiate on uranium enrichment. He also warned that any future attack from Israel would have "dire consequences."
In an interview with Al Jazeera, he asserted that Tehran will not halt uranium enrichment and is not willing to make any compromises on the matter.
Abbas Araghchi stated:
He added, "We have gained a lot of experience from the recent conflict and have tested our missiles in a real war. If Israel attacks again, they will have to face dire consequences."
Araghchi also commented on the role of the United States alongside Israel. He claimed that the technology for uranium enrichment remains intact despite damage to nuclear facilities from US attacks. Furthermore, he asserted that nuclear materials remain secure in the facilities that were targeted.
Meanwhile, Teheran has reacted strongly to the recent order by US President Donald Trump to conduct a nuclear weapons test for the first time in three decades. Calling the move "counterproductive and irresponsible," Araghchi argued that the US is creating a drama by conducting nuclear tests while simultaneously blaming Iran's program.
Iran's Foreign Minister also commented that the country will not bow to any Western pressure. However, while he declined direct talks, he indicated that the door remains open for indirect discussions.
In light of the situation, Oman has called for the US and Iran to return to negotiations. Muscat had previously hosted several rounds of nuclear talks between Washington and Tehran.
During the nuclear discussions between the US and Iran, Israel launched an attack on Tehran last June. Amidst the ongoing conflict, the US attempted to destroy several of Iran's vital nuclear facilities.
Following these events, the discussions between Washington and Tehran completely broke down. As a result, international sanctions were imposed on Iran, while Tehran simultaneously continued its nuclear activities in full swing.
