Seven people, including the pilot, were killed when a military cargo plane crashed near Moscow, the capital of Russia.
The country's Ministry of Defense confirmed that the accident occurred on Tuesday in the Ivanovo region, located about 200 kilometers from Moscow.
According to the ministry's statement, the crashed aircraft was an AN-22 military transport series plane, which the Russian military typically uses for cargo transportation.
The plane had been taken up for a test flight after its engine developed a fault and was repaired. A total of seven people—the pilot and all crew—were aboard that flight.
Shortly after take-off, the plane crashed with a loud noise in an uninhabited area of the Ivanovo district. The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that no one other than the pilot and passengers was harmed in the accident.
The ministry also reported that an investigation committee has already been formed to determine the cause of the crash, and they have begun their work.
