Pope Leo XIV issued a poignant appeal for peace on Friday (January 9) asserting that Palestinians possess the fundamental right to live securely within their "own land."

During his address, the Pope expressed deep concern over the escalating violence targeting civilians in the occupied West Bank and the worsening humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

The American pontiff emphasized that both the residents of the West Bank and Gaza must be guaranteed a future rooted in justice and stability.

"Sadly, there has been an increase in violence in the West Bank against the Palestinian civilian population," he remarked, while stressing that all Palestinians deserve the opportunity to thrive peacefully in their ancestral territories.
