US President Donald Trump concluded his high-profile visit to the World Economic Forum on Thursday after launching a new international "Board of Peace" and presenting a radical USD 25 billion "master plan" to transform the Gaza Strip into a free-market tourism and tech hub.
Addressing a global audience of elite leaders, Trump officially signed the founding charter for the Board of Peace, a body he will chair. However, Zelensky confirmed that trilateral talks between the US, Ukraine, and Russia are scheduled for later this week in the UAE.
The summit also saw a de-escalation of tensions over Trump’s bid to acquire Greenland. After days of threatening European allies with tariffs, Trump announced a "framework of a future deal" following a meeting with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte.
The agreement reportedly focuses on Arctic security and a new US missile defense shield rather than the immediate purchase of the territory, easing fears of a transatlantic trade war.
