Tehran does not trust the United States, and fighting could break out again at any time, warned Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament and chief negotiator.

Ghalibaf issued the warning during a speech on Iranian state television early Sunday morning.

His comments come amid deep uncertainty surrounding the extension of the ongoing two-week ceasefire with the U.S. and efforts to permanently end the conflict.

Meanwhile, Israeli Army Radio, citing military and political sources, reported that Israeli forces have been placed on high alert in anticipation of the potential expiration of the ceasefire agreement with Iran.
