Great Britain has announced the formation of a new multinational naval alliance comprising North European nations to address growing security challenges posed by Russia. The 10-nation coalition is expected to reach full operational capability by 2029, according to British military officials reported by RT.

General Gwyn Jenkins, the UK’s Chief of the Defence Staff, stated that the alliance includes the Netherlands alongside nine other nations from the Nordic and Baltic regions. Designed to complement NATO, this multinational force will remain under British command.

The initiative aims to streamline regular training, strategic war planning, and capacity building among member fleets over the next few years.

Rising Incursions in British Waters
London asserts that Russian military activity around European borders is on the rise. According to General Jenkins, incursions by Russian warships and submarines into British waters have surged by approximately 30% over the last two years.

Despite the global focus on the ongoing Middle East crisis, the UK maintains that Russia remains its most significant security risk. The new naval strategy is being developed to ensure an immediate and coordinated response should a conflict arise.

Tensions further escalated last March when British Prime Minister Keir Starmer threatened to seize Russian oil tankers. In response, Moscow began deploying warships to escort its tanker fleet, though Russian oil transit through British waters reportedly continues.

Moscow Dismisses "Western Provocation"
Russia has labeled the formation of the new naval force as an "excessive measure." The Kremlin maintains it has no plans to invade any European nation unless provoked.

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev criticized the move, claiming Western leaders are manufacturing fear to distract their citizens from domestic crises and to justify increased military spending.
