China Rolls Out Red Carpet for Trump

U.S. President Donald Trump arrived in China on Wednesday evening for a two-day visit, marking the first trip by a top American leader to the country in a decade.

According to the BBC and China’s state-run news agency, Xinhua, Trump arrived in Beijing aboard Air Force One. He is accompanied on the trip by his son, Eric Trump, and daughter-in-law, Lara Trump.

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng greeted President Trump at the airport, where he was honored with a full red-carpet reception.

As Trump descended the stairs of the aircraft, approximately 300 Chinese children dressed in blue and white uniforms waved U.S. and Chinese flags.

As Han and Trump walked together along the red carpet, the children chanted in Mandarin, "Welcome, welcome, a very warm welcome."

Al Jazeera reports that while the President has no public engagements scheduled for Wednesday, he is set to participate in several high-level meetings and key programs with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday and Friday.

A delegation of top executives from major U.S. technology companies is also accompanying the President on this visit. The CEOs of Nvidia, Apple, Tesla, and Boeing have already arrived in China.
