All 13 people on board a small tourist aircraft were killed after it crashed in the South American country of Peru.

The victims met with this tragic accident while visiting "Nazca Lines," one of the country's most popular tourist destinations.

The Cessna Caravan C208 aircraft, which took off from Peru's Pisco Airport around 1:00 PM local time on Saturday (August 1), suddenly crashed while flying over the Pueblo Viejo area.

There were a total of 11 passengers on board, along with two pilots.

According to Peru's state news agency, the deceased passengers included seven Italian nationals, two Germans, and two Spanish citizens.

The crashed aircraft belonged to the local airline "Aerodiana."

Police official Jorge Andrade told AFP that the crash was so severe that none of the occupants survived. Rescue workers rushed to the scene upon receiving the information.

Video footage captured by Reuters showed smoke billowing from the wreckage and firefighters attempting to extinguish the flames.

Located in southern Peru, the ancient Nazca Lines are a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Tourists frequently take small aircraft flights to clearly view the thousands-of-years-old geometric and animal figures etched into the vast desert sands.

The Nazca Provincial Municipal Authority expressed deep grief over the incident and conveyed condolences to the families of the victims.

However, authorities could not immediately state the exact cause of the crash.

Notably, this is not the first tourist aircraft accident in the Nazca Lines region.

Previously, seven people died in a plane crash in the same area in 2022, and six people were killed in another aircraft accident in 2010.
