A trilateral summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and US President Donald Trump is a possibility, potentially taking place on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in China this coming November.

Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov shared this on Tuesday (September 1).

In an interview with Vesti, he stated that the matter was discussed between Putin and Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan.

According to Ushakov, Xi Jinping noted that Donald Trump will be attending the summit, and Vladimir Putin is also invited to participate. If everything goes according to plan, organizing a meeting between the three leaders could be possible.

He added that even if a direct trilateral meeting does not take place, engaging with everyone at the summit remains necessary.

The 2026 APEC leaders' meeting is scheduled to be held in Shenzhen, China, on November 18 and 19.

Meanwhile, Ushakov also touched upon humanitarian issues related to the war in Ukraine. He announced that he is scheduled to meet with Cardinal Matteo Maria Zuppi, the Archbishop of Bologna, in late September.

The meeting will focus on humanitarian aspects of the Ukraine conflict, alongside potential discussions on political matters.

Ushakov noted that the Vatican continues to maintain a separate communication channel with Russia to discuss these humanitarian issues.
