Malaysia has restricted the Multiple-Entry Visa (MEV) facility for citizens of 31 countries across South Asia and Africa, including Bangladesh.

Under the new policy, citizens of these nations will generally be issued Single-Entry Visas for standard visits or social travels.

This information was revealed in an announcement published on the website of the Malaysian Immigration Department.

The new policy came into effect on September 1, 2026.

As a result, the opportunity for Bangladeshi tourists to obtain a one-year multiple-entry visa will decrease compared to before.

For Bangladeshis interested in visiting Malaysia on a visit visa, a single-entry visa will now generally apply.

However, provisions remain for granting multiple-entry visas for specific travel purposes. These include business travel, medical treatment, "fly and cruise," and wedding tourism.

The Malaysian Immigration Department stated that these new restrictions primarily apply to visit visas or social travels.

This means there is no direct impact of this policy on work permits or employment-related visas for Bangladeshi or other foreign workers currently employed in Malaysia.

The list published by the Immigration Department includes a total of 31 countries from South Asia and Africa—including Bangladesh—where the general multiple-entry visa facility has been restricted in favor of single-entry visas.
