US President Donald Trump asserted on Wednesday that the United States is prevailing in its ongoing conflict with Iran, maintaining that American military forces currently hold strategic control over the vital Strait of Hormuz.
Addressing attendees at the Republican Party's inaugural midterm convention held in Dallas, Trump criticized the green energy frameworks implemented by past administrations for driving up domestic living expenses, while asserting that his own policies have swiftly lowered costs for groceries and everyday commodities.
“Oil prices will be going down as soon as we win the war with Iran,” Trump remarked.
“We’ll win it. We’re winning it. We control the Hormuz Strait,” he added.
The US President also joked about renaming the critical waterway connecting the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman as the "Trump Strait," suggesting that Iranian authorities would find amusement in the concept.
Characterizing Tehran as having acted as the "bully of the Middle East" for over five decades, Trump declared, “they’re not the bully anymore.”
Concurrently, CBS News reported—citing insiders familiar with the matter—that multiple American military aircraft sustained structural damage during retaliatory Iranian strikes targeting the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base located in Jordan early Wednesday morning.
According to the disclosures, approximately eight F-15 fighter jets incurred minor impairments before being cleared back into operational status, whereas an A-10 Thunderbolt, popularly known as the Warthog, suffered a direct hit that severed one of its wings.
This aerial assault formed part of a broader wave of counter-attacks launched by Tehran following Washington's announcement on Tuesday that American naval assets had intercepted and struck five Iranian oil tankers after an attempted strike against a US Navy ship.
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps publicly claimed responsibility for hitting eight tankers, two warships, and the American military installation in Jordan.
In response to the incoming barrage, US air defense batteries stationed in Jordan launched upwards of 30 Patriot interceptor missiles in an attempt to neutralize the incoming Iranian projectiles, according to the report.
