A multi-storey building collapsed in the Seemapuri area of northeast Delhi, killing three people, including a pregnant woman.
Delhi Fire Services have rescued 11 people from the debris, who were admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital in Tahirpur.
Delhi Fire Services (DFS) received reports of the building collapse at approximately 3:30 PM on Wednesday, October 7, and immediately dispatched fire tenders to the scene.
Among the victims was a 21-year-old woman named Golafsa, who was about four months pregnant.
A 12-year-old girl and an infant were also killed, and their identities remain unconfirmed.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajendra Prasad Meena stated that one of the children had suffered severe trauma, with the head severed from the body.
An official confirmed that rescue operations are ongoing.
Authorities suspect that the building developed structural cracks following the earthquake that struck Uttarakhand on Tuesday evening, which may have triggered the collapse.
Locals reported hearing voices of people trapped under the rubble, though the exact cause of the collapse remains unconfirmed.
According to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), cracks had appeared in the structure following the earthquake, and the owner had begun the process of vacating the building.
Police stated that the building was constructed on a plot measuring approximately 225 square feet.
This incident follows another building collapse in Delhi's Satya Niketan exactly a month ago.
On September 6, a five-story building caved in there, resulting in seven deaths and multiple injuries.
