Pakistan has extended the ban on the use of its airspace for Indian aircraft until November 24.

The information was revealed on Saturday (October 17) through a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA).

A PAA spokesperson stated that the new restriction will remain in effect until 5:00 AM on November 24.

According to Geo News, the ban was first imposed on April 23, 2025. Under this measure, Indian planes are barred from utilizing Pakistani airspace.

With this latest extension, the restriction that has been in place since last year continues.

Tensions between the two neighboring countries escalated following an attack in Pahalgam, in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

As diplomatic and military friction subsequently heightened, Pakistan closed its airspace to Indian flights.

India accused Pakistan of involvement in the attack, an allegation Islamabad firmly denied while calling for an independent and transparent investigation.

In response to Pakistan's decision, India closed its own airspace to Pakistani airlines on April 30, 2025.

Subsequently, India launched airstrikes on several Pakistani cities on May 6 and 7, 2025.

In retaliation, Pakistan initiated "Operation Bunianum Marsus," carrying out a large-scale counter-offensive targeting multiple Indian military installations.

During the conflict, Pakistan claimed it had downed eight Indian fighter jets—including three Rafale warplanes—along with dozens of drones.

Following roughly 87 hours of conflict, the two nuclear-armed neighbors agreed to a US-brokered ceasefire on May 10, 2025.

The airspace restrictions have placed a heavier financial burden on India's aviation sector, whereas Pakistan's aviation industry has experienced comparatively less disruption.

Pakistan has previously imposed similar airspace bans during earlier crises, including the 1999 Kargil conflict and the 2019 Pulwama standoff.

In those instances as well, Indian airlines faced significantly greater operational challenges compared to their Pakistani counterparts.
