The United States has revoked more than 300,000 visas since President Donald Trump assumed office for his second term, a senior U.S. State Department official confirmed on Tuesday (October 20).
U.S. officials stated that the measure targets foreign nationals involved in illegal activities or deemed a threat to national security, while issuing a stern warning to visa holders to comply with American laws.
According to news agency Anadolu, Mora Namdar, Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Affairs, disclosed the figures in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
"Over 300,000 visas revoked and counting. Our message to visa holders is clear: abide by U.S. laws or lose the privilege of traveling to our country," Namdar wrote.
She added, "Under the leadership of President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the security of our nation and the American people always comes first."
Namdar also shared a White House post stating, "The Trump administration has revoked more visas faster than any other administration in history."
Concurrently, U.S. State Department Spokesperson Tommy Pigott posted on X that visas are being canceled for foreign nationals who engage in unlawful acts or pose national security risks.
"If a foreign national in the U.S. on a visa breaks the law, commits fraud, or seeks to compromise our national security, it will not be tolerated," Pigott stated.
