PEC exams will be held under reduced syllabus: State Minister

Primary Education Completion (PEC) examinations are not going to be cancelled due to coronavirus situation. Like the other years, the PEC examinations are going to be held in this year. But syllabus will be reduced.

State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Md. Zakir Hossain said these while delivering his speech as the chief guest at a seminar organized by Bangladesh Education Reporters Association (ERAB) on Monday.

The state minister said, if schools can be opened by September then PEC exams will be completed by December. If schools cannot be opened in September then session will be extended till February. National Primary Education Academy and Primary Education Directorate are working for preparing the revised syllabus for both of the plans.

Md. Zakir Hossain said, we have no plan to stop the PEC examinations. Works are going on to upgrade the examinations by forming primary education board.

We have one type of preparation if schools are opened in September. Different plan will be taken if that is not possible. Short syllabus is being prepared considering the important lessons for the next class.
