Family members of imprisoned BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia visited her at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) where she is undergoing treatment. Five family members of Begum Khaleda Zia went to meet the former prime minister at around 3:15 pm on Monday. They came out from there after 4 pm.
BNP Chairperson’s press wing member Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed the matter to Rtv online and said, after more than one month the relatives went to meet her taking permission from the jail authority. Among the family members there were-Khaleda Zia’s younger sister Selima Islam, her husband Professor Rafiqul Islam, younger brother Shamim Iskander, his wife Kaniz Fatema and Shamim Iskander’s son Avik Iskander.
He also said, Khaleda Zia’s relatives last met her on November 13. The visit was scheduled on December 14, on the occasion of martyred intellectual day. But due to unavoidable reason the jail authority cancelled that and fixed the next schedule on Victory Day.
Mentionable, on December 12 Appellate Division of the Supreme Court scrapped the bail plea of Begum Khaleda Zia in connection with the Zia Charitable Trust graft case.
