Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon has been made the Executive Member of Bangladesh Awami League central working committee.
The information was delivered through a notice on behalf of the party on Sunday.
In the city corporation election of 2015 Sayeed Khokon was elected mayor of DSCC while Annisul Huq was elected mayor of DNCC. Both were the candidates of Bangladesh Awami League. The mayoral post of DNCC fell vacant following the death of Annisul Huq on November 30, 2017. Then in the by-election Atiqul Islam became mayor of DNCC as a candidate of Awami League.
In the upcoming City Corporation elections Barrister Fazle Nur Taposh has got the nomination from Awami League instead of Sayeed Khokon in Dhaka south. On the other hand in DNCC election Atiqul Islam has got the nomination for the party. Both the candidates are conducting election campaign after allocation of symbol.
