The crescent moon for the month of Ramadan has been sighted in Bangladesh, marking the beginning of the holy month. As a result, Ramadan will start on Sunday, March 2.
On the evening of Saturday, March 1, the moon was observed in various parts of the country.
Religious advisor Dr AFM Khalid Hossain confirmed that the crescent moon for Ramadan was visible in Bangladesh. Reports have already come in from 15 districts regarding the moon sighting. Therefore, the official start of Ramadan will be counted from Sunday, March 2. The holy night of Shabe-Qadr will be observed on the night of March 27.
With the moon's sighting, devout Muslims will perform the Taraweeh prayer along with the Isha prayer. They will also have Sehri in the morning, preparing for their fast.
Earlier, the crescent moon was spotted in several countries, including Saudi Arabia, on Friday. Consequently, Ramadan began on Saturday in those regions.
In alignment with Saudi Arabia's moon sighting, people in various regions of Bangladesh have also begun their fasts, starting their Ramadan observance with Taraweeh prayer on Friday night.
