Shoaib Malik advises Babar Azam to quit captaincy
Babar Azam stepped down from the captaincy after shouldering the responsibility of the failure in the ODI World Cup. However, the PCB has relied on him in the T20 World Cup. But the right-handed batter could not repay that belief. Pakistan is floating in the sea of failure of two consecutive defeats.
Captain Babar Azam faild to score with the bat. He returned to just 13 runs while chasing 120 runs against India. Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik has advised Babar to step down from the captaincy.
'I have been saying for a long time that please give up the captaincy. You (Babar) are a class players and you can only show your class if you do not have extra responsibilities. If he stays away from the leadership, it will be good for Babar,' Shoaib Malik said.
'Yesterday, it was a 120 chase, why were you trying to improve your strike rate yesterday? The platform was set in every manner. If as a leader and a batter, your brain does kick-in, in these sorts of situations, when will it? I am forced to say today that the core of this team, in the T20I format, I think we have to stop backing them,' Malik added.
Pakistan will face Canada on Tuesday (June 11) in the ongoing T20 World Cup tournament at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York.
