After the group stage, the Copa America awaits the exciting last eight battle from next Friday (July 5). The quarter-final match is starting in the morning Bangladesh time.

Ecuador will face current champions Argentina in the first quarter final match of the season. On the other hand, Venezuela-Canada and Colombia-Panama will compete in the semi-finals on July 6 and 7. The Brazil-Uruguay clash in the quarter-finals is considered to be the biggest match so far.

Usually, in the knock-out phase of major tournaments, if the match is level after the scheduled 90 minutes, the game goes to extra time. However, there is an exception in the 48th edition of Copa. According to the old rules, there is no extra time in the knockout stage, semi-finals and third place matches, except the final match.

According to the regulations of Copa 2024, if there is no goal in the match after 90 minutes in the final, the game will go to extra time. In this case, extra time will be 30 minutes and two halves will be played in 15 minutes. If the match is still tied, the champion will be decided by a penalty shootout.

It further states that there will be no extra time in the knockout stages ie quarter finals, semi finals and third place deciding matches. If there is a tie after the scheduled 90 minutes, the match will go directly to the penalty shootout.
