AFA lodges official complaint to FIFA over controversy at Paris

The curtain will rise on the Paris Olympics, known as 'The Greatest Show on Earth' on next Friday (July 26). Before that, the football event has already started. A debate has already arised about the disqualification of Argentina's goal.

Following the incident, Argentine Football Association (AFA) has filed a complaint with FIFA regarding the events during the U-23 team's debut at the Paris Olympics, which ended in a 1-2 defeat to Morocco after a nearly two-hour suspension.

Earlier, the popular soccer-based website Goal.com reported that the AFA filed a formal complaint with the FIFA Disciplinary Committee.

The president of the country's football association, Claudio Tapia, confirmed the matter.

Earlier on Wednesday (July 24), Morocco took the lead in the first half of the match. Soufiane Rahimi put the team ahead in injury time. The Moroccans came back from the break and took lead of 2-0. Later, Argentina made a great comeback. Giuliano Simeone reduced the gap in the 68th minute of the match.

Cristian Medina equalized for Argentina in the 16th minute of added time at the end of the match. However, the match was stopped for about 2 hours due to the tension in the field. Medina's goal was disallowed by VAR review. Argentina started the Olympics with a loss.

Argentinian board president and star footballer Lionel Messi angry about this incident.

He wrote on social media, 'The captains of the two teams dod not want the match to take place. But their views were different. On behalf of the AFA, we have already made a formal complaint to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee mto take appropriate action.'

After such a loss, Argentine captain Lionel Messi's comments on social media is 'unbelievable'.
