Although Bangladesh suffered a heavy defeat against India in the Two-match Test series, there were individual achievements for Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, and Najmul Hossain Shanto. Ahead of the Kanpur Test, these three players received good news from the ICC.

On Wednesday, September 25, the ICC released its updated weekly rankings for Men's cricket. Shanto has moved up 14 spots to reach 48th place, following his second innings knock of 82 runs in the Chennai Test.

In contrast, Bangladesh's senior batters Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Liton Das have slipped in the rankings due to poor performances with the bat. Liton has dropped five spots to 20th, Mushfiqur is now 23rd after a six-spot drop, and Mominul has fallen 11 places to 58th.

On the other hand, Bangladesh's pacers showed a different picture. Hasan Mahmud claimed 5 wickets for 83 runs in the first innings of the Chennai Test. After taking five wickets in consecutive Tests (including the Pakistan series), the 24-year-old pacer has moved up five spots to 44th in the bowlers' rankings.

Taskin Ahmed also progressed, moving up eight spots to 63rd after taking 4 wickets across both innings. His current rating of 308 is the best of his career. Speedster Nahid Rana has also climbed one spot to 78th.

While the pacers performed well in the Chennai Test, the spinners failed to make a significant impact. Mehidy Hasan Miraz dropped one spot to 22nd despite taking 3 wickets across both innings, and Shakib Al Hasan fell six places to 33rd after a poor showing with the ball. However, Shakib did move up one spot to 43rd in the all-rounder rankings after scoring 32 and 25 runs in both innings.
