Bangladesh to Host Maldives for Two Friendlies in November

The Bangladesh national football team will play two international friendly matches against Maldives on November 13 and 16 at home during the final FIFA window of the year.
The news was confirmed on Saturday afternoon by Imran Hossain Tushar, General Secretary of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF).
Initially, BFF had approached Malaysia and Thailand to arrange matches during the November window, but both teams were only interested in playing a single match. Eventually, BFF contacted Maldives, who agreed to play two matches, which BFF accepted considering the lower cost and additional match.
The matches are expected to be held at the Bashundhara Kings Arena, with BFF maintaining close coordination with the venue management.
Meanwhile, Bangladeshi-origin English footballer Hamza Dewan Choudhury recently received clearance from the English Football Association and obtained a Bangladesh passport. However, BFF’s request to FIFA’s Player Status Committee for his eligibility to represent Bangladesh is still pending, as FIFA requested more documentation, delaying his inclusion.
To make matters worse, Hamza is currently sidelined with an injury, making his participation in the Maldives matches uncertain.

Indian Police Deports 'Tiger Rabi' Back to Bangladesh
Rabiul Islam, known as "Tiger Rabi," is being deported to Bangladesh by Indian authorities for allegedly violating regulations. Before leaving Kanpur, Rabi stated that he would spend a day under police custody in Delhi and return to Bangladesh on Sunday. He plans to speak to the media after his return, sharing details about what happened to him over the past two days.
Though discharged from the hospital on Friday night, Rabi remained under the surveillance of Kanpur police in Uttar Pradesh. He was kept under security at a hotel and was instructed to pack his bags early in the morning.
Rabi had traveled to India on a medical visa to support the Bangladesh cricket team. He was helped by mobile banking company Nagad, which sponsored his trip. After the first Test, he traveled from Chennai to Kanpur on September 24. During the second Test, Rabi was seen cheering the players from a gallery near the press box, waving the national flag. Rabi claims that he had come down from the open gallery to take shelter from the rain when he was physically assaulted from behind by unknown individuals.
However, Kanpur police stated that their investigation did not confirm Rabi's allegation of being assaulted by spectators. They also mentioned that a medical examination found no signs of physical injury. On Friday, Abhishek Pandey, ACP of Kanpur's Kalyanpur area, told reporters, "He (Rabi) collapsed due to dehydration and was taken to the hospital with the help of police and healthcare workers. The allegation of assault is entirely false; no spectator attacked him."
When asked why Rabi was being deported, police officials declined to comment officially. However, an officer speaking on the condition of anonymity suggested that it might be for security reasons.
Kanpur police also made serious allegations against Rabi, claiming that he is suffering from contagious tuberculosis and was supposed to receive treatment in Kolkata. Furthermore, the BCCI accused him of entering the gallery illegally with a sponsor's logo. These reasons have led the Indian government to deport the Bangladeshi supporter promptly.
Bangladesh-Afghanistan ODI Series Schedule
Bangladesh is set to play a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan in November, with the first match scheduled for November 6. The series will take place in the United Arab Emirates. All the matches will be played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, UAE.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) announced the schedule today, Sunday (September 29), confirming that the remaining two ODIs will be held on November 9 and November 11. The UAE has been designated as Afghanistan's home venue for this series.

Asif Mahmud Addresses Shakib's Security Concerns
Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, Youth and Sports Adviser of the Interim Government spoke about Shakib's security issue. He said, "Security for cricketer Shakib assured, but not for MP Shakib."
"We need to remember that Shakib Al Hasan carries two identities. He is a cricketer, and we will provide him with the necessary security as a player. On the other hand, he is also a politician, having served with the Awami League. Public sentiment varies depending on these two identities. As a cricketer, we will provide him with the security he needs," he added.

Shakib Al Hasan suddenly announced his retirement from T20 and Test cricket before taking the field against India in Kanpur. Kanpur Test / Mominul Scores 100, Bangladesh 205/6 at Lunch
Bangladesh finished at 205/6 at lunch on the 4th day of the 2nd Test against India at the Green Park Stadium today.
There was cricket at last as the sun emerged out with a clear outfield for the action to resume after two-and-a-half days. Bangladesh's Mominul Haque scored a hundred as India managed to nab three wickets at the other end.
Earlier, Mushfiqur Rahim (11) was the first batter to depart, leaving a Jasprit Bumrah delivery that crashed onto his stumps.
Bangladesh lost their second wicket of the day as Liton Das departed courtesy of a brilliant one-handed catch from Rohit Sharma.
Liton charged down the wicket against pacer Mohammad Siraj and tried to smash the ball over the in-field. But Rohit, who was at mid-wicket, got his right hand up in a flash and the ball went straight into his hand.
Liton departed for 13 and his dismissal has brought Shakib Al Hasan to the middle, who joins a well-set Mominul Haque batting on 62.
Earlier on Day 1, Indian captain Rohit Sharma had invited Bangladesh to bat first after winning the toss. Seamer Akash Deep struck twice in the first session, removing Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam. Ravichandran Ashwin then clinched the wicket of Najmul Hossain Shanto as Bangladesh remained at 107/3 before the Stumps were called after just 35 overs of play on Day 1.
Bangladesh trail 1-0 in the two-match series after losing the first Test to the hosts in Chennai by a dominant margin of 280 runs. The visitors had arrived in India on the back of a 2-0 whitewashing of Pakistan away from home.

Bangladesh vs India / India Smash Fastest Team 50 in Test History
History was scripted on Day 4 of the second Test between Bangladesh and India at the Green Park stadium in Kanpur as team India smashed the fastest team fifty in the history of Test cricket.
They got to the landmark in just 3 overs, thereby creating a new record. The previous best was by England, who, earlier this year in Nottingham smashed 50 in 4.2 overs against West Indies.
The onslaught was started by Yashasvi Jaiswal, who hit a hat-trick of boundaries in the very first over bowled by Hasan Mahmud.
But the real damage was done by Rohit Sharma, who smashed sixes in each of his first two balls. India raced to 29/0 at the end of 2 overs.
Another Rohit six and a no-ball from Mahmud took the team to 36/0 in 2.3 overs. This was when Jaiswal went 6, 4, 4 against the right-arm seamer to help the team create history and post the fastest team fifty in Tests.
At 23 off 7 balls, Rohit looked like he was on course to post the fastest fifty in Test history, but was dismissed by Mehidy Hasan Miraz for 23 off 11 balls. The off-spinner bowled an absolute peach to go through the gate of the Indian skipper.
Kanpur Test / India Whitewash Bangladesh With A Stunning Win
Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja picked up wickets in a cluster on Day 5 to enforce a remarkable Indian victory over Bangladesh to seal the two-match series 2-0 at Kanpur’s Green Park Stadium.
Bangladesh resumed the fifth day’s play at 26-2 to find themselves another 26 runs behind India. Overnight batter and first-innings centurion Mominul Haque became the first man to depart in the day courtesy of some sharp leg-slip fielding from KL Rahul off Ravichandran Ashwin, who picked up his third wicket of the innings.
While captain Najmul Hossain Shanto (19) and opener Shadman Islam (50 off 101) steered Bangladesh past the opening hour without further casualty, Ravindra Jadeja tilted the tide back in India’s favor with a match-defining three-wicket burst. The Indian all-rounder dismissed Shanto and dangermen Litton Das and Shakib Al Hasan in the space of just three overs as the visitors slipped to 94-7.
Akash Deep, meanwhile, snagged half-centurion Shadman Islam during his brief spell before Jasprit Bumrah mopped up the Bangladeshi tail to bag figures of 3-17 from 10 overs. Their collective brilliance enveloped Bangladesh’s second innings for 146 in an extended 36-over opening session to set India a 95-run target to seal the series 2-0.
In the pursuit of a quick victory, Indian captain Rohit Sharma attacked and perished at the top as he was caught out by Hasan Mahmud at long leg off Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Following Sharma’s dismissal in the third over of the chase for just eight, his opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal continued his onslaught and smashed his seventh fifty in Test cricket. Bangladesh did manage to get the wicket of Jaiswal and Gill, but India was never put under pressure and clinched the game by seven wickets.
