Bangladesh Opt to Bat After Winning Toss Against South Africa

The South African cricket team arrived in Dhaka on October 16 for a two-match Test series against Bangladesh. Both teams have taken the field for the first Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

On Monday, October 21, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and chose to bat first. The Tigers' playing XI features three spinners and one pacer. Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz retain their places, while Nayeem Hasan returns to the Test side after nearly a year, having last played in December 2023. Hasan Mahmud is the lone pacer.
