Cristiano Ronaldo continues to defy expectations with his exceptional form, steadily approaching the remarkable milestone of 1,000 career goals. Though he recently mentioned focusing more on the present than future achievements, his relentless momentum suggests he’s on track to reach this feat sooner rather than later.
In his last three games, Ronaldo has netted five goals, showcasing his consistency across various competitions. During the international break, he scored twice against Poland in the Nations League. Back with Al Nassr, he found the net in their recent match against Al Qadsiah, and followed it up with a crucial brace in Al Nassr’s 3-1 win over Al Gharafa in the AFC Champions League.
His goals, scored in the 46th and 64th minutes, came from inside the box—a header and a well-placed finish—bringing his career total to an impressive 913 goals. This season, Ronaldo has accumulated 13 goals and 3 assists in 17 matches for Al Nassr. He has also reached 40 goals for 2024, surpassing 550 combined goals and assists since turning 30.
After the match, Ronaldo reflected, “My main focus is always the team's success. Goals come naturally when the team performs well. I dedicate this win to the fans, the club, and my teammates.”

Chief Adviser to Honor SAFF Champions Today
The Bangladesh women's football team has returned home after winning the SAFF Championship title for the second consecutive time. Today, Chief Adviser of the interim government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, will host a reception to honor the champions.
The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. at the State Guest House Jamuna.
On Wednesday, October 30, Bangladesh defeated host Nepal 2-1 in the SAFF Championship final to claim the title. The team returned home on Thursday, October 31, and was welcomed with a celebratory open-top bus parade to the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) building, where they received a grand reception.
Youth and Sports Adviser of the interim government, Asif Mahmud, was present at the event and announced a substantial financial reward for the team in recognition of their remarkable achievement.
Neymar and Endrick Left Out of Brazil’s World Cup Qualifying Squad
Neymar Jr. recently returned from injury and played for Al Hilal in an AFC Champions League match. The plan was for him to make his return to the Brazil team in November's 2026 World Cup qualifying matches. However, Seleção coach Diniz Jr. did not have the chance to evaluate him in enough matches, so Neymar’s national team comeback has been postponed. There are other surprises in the squad as well.
Coach Diniz Jr. has announced Brazil's squad for the World Cup qualifying matches in November against Venezuela and Uruguay, with no place for Al Hilal star Neymar or young Real Madrid forward Endrick.
On October 21, Neymar returned to the field after a year-long absence, playing about 20 minutes for Al Hilal. Since then, he hasn’t had the chance to play more matches with his club, so Diniz decided not to take the risk of including him.
On Friday, November 1, Diniz stated, "We’ve decided not to rush his return. He has recovered fully, but he’s only played a few minutes, which makes including him too risky."
Neymar last played for the national team on October 17 last year in a World Cup qualifying match against Uruguay, where he suffered an ACL injury, keeping him off the field for over a year. Now, Neymar will have to wait until March 2025 to return, possibly in the qualifiers against Colombia and Argentina.
Endrick, on the other hand, has had limited playtime, with only 107 minutes for Real Madrid this season and no appearances in the last four matches, leading to his exclusion from the squad.
Vinicius Jr., who missed the October qualifiers due to a throat injury, has been called up for these two games. Seventeen-year-old rising star Estevão has also earned a spot in the 23-man squad; he currently tops the Brazilian Serie A goal tally alongside Flamengo’s Pedro Guilherme. Manchester City winger Savio has also received a call-up.
Brazil will face Venezuela on November 14 at 3:00 AM Bangladesh time, followed by Uruguay on November 20 at 6:45 AM Bangladesh time.

India Whitewashed in Test Series After 24 Years
The Blackcaps aka New Zealand (NZ) etched their name in memoirs of history on Sunday, October 3, as they became the first team to complete a whitewash over Team India (IND) in their backyard for the first time after 24 long years. Notably, in the final and third Test of the series in Mumbai, the hosts failed to chase down a target of 147 runs in their fourth innings.
As a result, the Kiwis sealed the game and the series for a historic 3-0 win. New Zealand scripted history on Sunday, as India suffered their first whitewash at home in 24 years as the visitors clinched the Test series 3-0. The game turned out to be a close one initially. The valiant batting efforts (64 off 57 balls) of the explosive India wicketkeeper-batter, Rishabh Pant, went in vain which kept the hosts in the pursuit of the target.
Barring Pant, only Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar showed some resistance against New Zealand bowlers. While the rest of the team continued their rough patch with the bat. As a result, India was defeated by 25 runs by the dark horses in the final Test of the series.
Speaking of some notable performances from the visitors, Ajaz Patel, who made life tough for the batters in the first innings, turned out to be the hero at his ‘favorite’ ground, Wankhede. He spun the web around the Indian batters leaving them completely bamboozled. Notably, the Rohit Sharma-led side was seen practicing against left-arm spinners in a bid to tackle and bat better against them. Now the interesting question that arises is when was the last time Team India had to go through the wrath of getting whitewashed by an opposition in their den? Well, the last opposition to script history was South Africa. Notably, under the legendary leadership of the Late Hansie Cronje, the Proteas defeated India in the year 2000.
In that series, the first Test was played at Wankhede where the Cronje-led side trumped the Indian side by 4 wickets. Thereafter, in the-then Bangalore, they were a notch up and decimated the hosts by winning the final Test of the two-match Test series by an emphatic margin of an innings and 71 runs.
New Zealand's series win is the first in 90 years Test history of India
However, in the case of the Tom Latham-led side, given that it was a series of more than two games, the feat achieved is even more gigantic. Commendably, this is the first time in the last 90 years that Team India has lost a three-game series by 3-0 at home. Moreover, the only other series defeat which India bared was in the year 2012. England aka the Three Lions produced some special effort, which meant that the hosts were inflicted with a series of defeats.
However, India managed to win one game out of three games that were played in a four-match Test series. Hence, the visitors in this instance, were unable to complete a series whitewash. As a result of the clean sweep against New Zealand, the road to the World Test Championship (WTC 2023-25) battle has got even tougher and quite tricky. Notably, India will now head to Australia, to play a five-match Test series down under.
But given that having lost three games at home in tandem, the chances of making it to the summit clash have become bleaker. Now the only way to ensure their WTC final berth, India will have to win the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 against Australia in their backyard, at all costs.

Bangladesh to Face Afghanistan in First ODI Tomorrow
Bangladesh and Afghanistan will renew their rivalry in the three-match ODI series starting on November 6. These three matches will kickstart their preparations for the Champions Trophy which is scheduled to be played in Pakistan next year. For the unversed, Afghanistan is playing in the said ICC event for the first time in their cricketing history.
Hashmatullah Shahidi continues to be the captain of the ODI team even as Afghanistan has filled its squad with talented spin bowlers. Rashid Khan leads the attack for them while the likes of Mohammad Nabi, Noor Ahmad, and Nageyalia Kharote will assist him. Having beaten Bangladesh before, Afghanistan will be confident of putting up a good show in the series.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh will be without Shakib Al Hasan and Litton Das who are missing this series for different reasons. Bangladesh Eyes Revival in Sharjah Against Afghanistan Today
Following their home Test series against South Africa, Bangladesh is set to face Afghanistan in the United Arab Emirates. From Wednesday, November 6, the two teams will meet in the first of a three-match ODI series. After enduring a series of consecutive whitewashes in Test cricket, the Tigers will look to bounce back in the ODI format against Afghanistan.
The match will be held at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the UAE, starting at 4 PM Bangladesh time. This match marks the 300th international cricket match to be hosted at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, making it the first international venue in the UAE to achieve this milestone. Bangladesh, by stepping onto the field in the afternoon, will become part of this historic moment.
However, when it comes to history, Bangladesh does not find itself in a favorable position. Between 1990 and 1995, the Tigers played six ODIs at this ground, and they lost all of them. After 29 years, Bangladesh will once again play an ODI here, having participated in a few T20 matches in the interim, including during the T20 World Cup, but none of those matches ended in victory.
On the other hand, Afghanistan has not lost any series at this ground in the last seven years. Recently, they defeated the powerful South African team here, further enhancing their reputation. Thus, Bangladesh enters this 'unknown' ground against a familiar opponent, and Afghanistan will likely be considered the favorites in the first match of the series.
Statistically, however, the head-to-head record favors Bangladesh. In 16 ODIs against Afghanistan, Bangladesh has won 10. They have also won the last three ODIs between the two teams. With this in mind, the Tigers are ready to turn the tide in this match. Bangladesh captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto confirmed their intent to bounce back during a press conference on the eve of the match. However, he also emphasized that he doesn’t want anyone to take undue pressure while batting.
Shanto said, "I believe that in any format, the top order, or the start of the innings, is very important. I don’t want anyone to bat under too much pressure. The top-order players should enjoy the game and play for the team to the best of their ability."
The Tigers, who have been stuck in a cycle of whitewashes, are targeting a turnaround in the Afghanistan series. While two members of the squad have yet to join the team in the UAE due to visa issues, Afghanistan's captain Hashmatullah Shahidi isn’t concerned with these details.
In a press conference before the first ODI, Shahidi said, “Actually, I didn’t know about the visa issue of the two Bangladeshi players. But as I said earlier, we are not thinking about them; we are only focused on ourselves. We are concentrating on our team and giving our best effort. I don’t know what has happened with their squad. We are just staying focused on our team."
In terms of success, Bangladesh has been consistent in ODIs. In their last series at home against Sri Lanka in March, they won 2–1. Additionally, they secured a victory over New Zealand in Napier last December. Thus, with some positive memories, Bangladesh may step onto the field against Afghanistan with confidence, although the task ahead is not going to be easy. Still, Bangladesh's fans remain hopeful for a victory in their favorite format.
Ronaldo's goal crushes Al Ain as Al Nassr dominates
Al Ain, the reigning AFC Champions League champions, suffered a heavy defeat on Tuesday night, losing 5-1 to Al Nassr. Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo scored the second goal for his team. This victory lifted the Saudi club to third place in the points table for the AFC Champions League Elite West Zone.
Last season, Ronaldo's team had been knocked out in the quarterfinals by this same Al Ain. With this win, Ronaldo and his team avenged that previous defeat.
Al Nassr now has 10 points from three wins in four matches. Al Hilal leads with 12 points, while Al Ahli, also on 10 points, sits in second place due to goal difference.
Al Nassr took the lead in the fifth minute with a goal by Anderson Talisca. Ronaldo scored in the 31st minute. After a long-range shot from Senegalese star Sadio Mané was blocked by Al Ain’s goalkeeper, the ball fell to Ronaldo, who promptly netted it on the rebound.
Al Ain had a chance to pull one back in the 56th minute. Park Young-woo’s shot hit the post and, after bouncing off diving goalkeeper Bento’s back, went into the net as an own goal.
However, Al Ain couldn’t stage a comeback. Al Nassr's 19-year-old Brazilian forward, Wesley, extended the lead with a brilliant finish in the 81st minute. In the fourth minute of added time, Talisca scored another goal, securing Al Nassr's emphatic 5-1 victory.
This defeat has left the Asian champions in a tough spot. With three losses and one draw in four matches, Al Ain now sits at the bottom of the 12-team West group, making it challenging for them to advance to the Round of 16.

Dutch-Bangla Bank has become the main sponsor for the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Additionally, Dutch-Bangla Bank's mobile financial service, Rocket, and e-wallet app, NexusPay, will serve as powered-by sponsors and co-sponsors.
On Wednesday, November 6, this popular institution in the country announced its sponsorship for the BPL in a grand event at Mirpur’s Home of Cricket.
Present at the event were BCB Director Nazmul Abedin Fahim and Dutch-Bangla Bank’s Managing Director Abul Kasem Mohammad Shirin.
Dutch-Bangla Bank’s two mobile banking branches, Rocket and NexusPay, will also participate as associate sponsors for this season’s BPL.
Notably, the 11th season of the BPL will feature seven teams, including three new ones. The nearly month-and-a-half-long tournament will conclude on February 7 of next year.
This season’s seven BPL teams are Dhaka Capitals, Chittagong Kings, Durbur Rajshahi, Fortune Barishal, Khulna Tigers, Rangpur Riders, and Sylhet Strikers.
Among the previous teams, Comilla Victorians and Chattogram Challengers are not returning. Additionally, Dhaka's ownership has changed, and Durbur Rajshahi has rejoined the league.
