Bangladesh women's team clinched the three-match ODI series against Ireland keeping a match in hand as they beat the visitors by five wickets at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Saturday (November 30).

Ireland set a target of 194 runs for Bangladesh by batting first. Bangladesh won with 5 wickets in reply and 37 balls in hand.

The hosts did not get off to a good start when chasing an easy target. Opener Murshida Khatun returned to the dressing room with 17 runs for the team. She scored 6 runs off 14 balls.

Another opener Fargana Haque took the team's lead along with Sharmin Akhter for the third wicket. The Tigresses have recovered from the initial shock with the help of the two batters. However, Sharmin could not score a fifty.

She was dismissed for 43 runs off 63 balls. But Fargana scored a fifty while keeping the other end in front. However, she could not stay on the pitch after that. The Tigress opener was caught out for 50 runs off 89 balls.

Nigar was ably supported by Sobhana Mostary (16) and Shorna Akter (29*) to seal the victory.

In the end, Bangladesh won with 5 wickets and 37 balls to spare, riding on Swarna Akhtar's unbeaten 29 runs. With this, the Tigress secured the series one match ahead.
