In the 2010 World Cup, Spain and the Netherlands clashed in the final, while in 2018, France and Croatia met in the title match. The Italy-Germany encounter also carries historical significance, as the two teams faced each other in the 2006 World Cup semi-finals.
The winners of the Italy-Germany match will play against the winner of Denmark-Portugal in the semi-finals, while the victors of Netherlands-Spain will face the winners of Croatia-France in the final four.
