Javier Cabrera, head coach of the national football team, said that their FIFA international friendly match against Nepal was harder than expected, though they wanted to control the game.
"Coming from behind was the positive part, but overall, it's disappointing. We wanted to control the game, but it was harder than expected, especially in the first half," he said after the match on Thursday night.
Bangladesh were held to a 2-2 draw by Nepal in their FIFA international friendly at the National Stadium in Dhaka.
The hosts got a blow when Nepal defender Rohit Chand netted in the 29th minute, but Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury's brace within a span of four minutes in the second half put Bangladesh on course for their first win over Nepal in five years.
Hamza levelled the margin with a brilliant bicycle kick in the 46th minute before taking the lead with a cool Panenka penalty in the 50th minute.
But the men in red and green were denied at the death as Nepal's another defender Ananta Tamang flicked in a corner to level the score.
Cabrera expressed dissatisfaction as his side once again conceded in stoppage time to draw against Nepal. "It's not a mental problem. We've prepared to defend that action hundreds of times in training, but for whatever reason, it can happen. Still, it's true that it's happening too often."
"The best moments were Hamza's goals at the start of the second half. We could have done better, especially in the first half," he added.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh played the friendly as part of their preparation for their second-leg (home) match of the AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualification against India, scheduled to be held on November 18 at the same venue.
