Bangladesh suffered their second consecutive defeat in the FIFA ASEAN Cup, going down 1-0 to Singapore at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta on Monday.

Following an opening 3-0 defeat to Malaysia, the consecutive losses leave Thomas Dooley's side facing early elimination from the group stage of the tournament.

First Half Action
Bangladesh started the match brightly, dominating the opening exchanges.

Within the first 15 minutes, Rakib Hossain and Suki Etufusa put considerable pressure on the Singaporean defense.

In the 6th minute, Bangladesh's Shamit Shome received a yellow card for pulling back Zulkifli.

Singapore gradually worked their way into the game. In the 16th minute, following a second corner, Bangladeshi goalkeeper Mehedi Hasan Srabon comfortably dealt with an effort from Ilhan Fandi.

Srabon pulled off another impressive save in the 33rd minute to punch away a long-range Singaporean free-kick, with Tariq Kazi subsequently clearing the danger.

However, the deadlock was broken in the 35th minute. Stewart capitalized on a cross from Abdullah Noor on the left flank, heading home to put Singapore ahead.

Two minutes later, in the 37th minute, Singapore came close again when a right-footed shot rebounded off the crossbar.

Despite enjoying the majority of possession in the first half, Bangladesh failed to register a single shot on target, whereas Singapore hit the target with four of their five attempts.

Second Half and Group Standings
Trailing by a goal, Bangladesh pushed aggressively for an equalizer in the second half.

They mounted wave after wave of attacks until the final whistle but lacked the clinical finish to break through.

Neither side managed to add to the scoreline in the second half, and Singapore sealed the 1-0 victory to take all three points.

With zero points from two matches, Bangladesh currently languishes at the bottom of the group table.

Malaysia leads the group with 3 points from one match, while Indonesia and Singapore occupy second and third places respectively, also with 3 points each.

Jamal Bhuyan and his teammates will face hosts Indonesia in their final group-stage fixture of the tournament.
