FIFA President Gianni Infantino has expressed his deep admiration for Bangladeshi football and its fans during a brief transit visit to Dhaka.
In a video message released by the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), the head of world football’s governing body described Dhaka as a beautiful city and called the people of Bangladesh passionate football enthusiasts.
In his video message, Infantino said,
"Greetings to everyone. I am truly delighted to be here in Dhaka, Bangladesh today. It is a beautiful country, but what matters even more to me is that this is an extraordinary, football-loving nation. Everyone here loves football, they love the game."
Praising the efforts of current BFF President Tabith Awal and his team, the FIFA chief added, "I am very happy to have met Mr. Awal today. He is a wonderful friend. Together with his board and team, he is doing great work to take Bangladeshi football to the next level."
Highlighting FIFA's future support for Bangladesh's football infrastructure and overall development, Infantino noted, "This is what the people of Bangladesh deserve—men’s football, women’s football, sports for both boys and girls, numerous projects, substantial investments in schools, infrastructure, training centers, and strategic planning. We discussed all of these, and we will work together to implement these excellent projects for football in Bangladesh."
Football analysts believe that the FIFA President's positive assessment and brief visit will play a vital role in boosting Bangladesh's football infrastructure and expanding its capacity to host international matches in the future.
