Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr have crashed out of the AFC Champions League after a narrow 3–2 loss to Japanese club Kawasaki in the semifinal on Wednesday (April 30) in Jeddah.
Despite dominating much of the match, Al Nassr failed to secure a win. Ronaldo, who had several attempts, was unable to find the back of the net. The scoring began in the 10th minute when Tatsuya Ito put Kawasaki ahead. However, Al Nassr equalized in the 28th minute as Sadio Mané dribbled past two defenders and slotted home from a Boushal assist.
Kawasaki regained the lead before halftime, with Ozeki scoring in the 41st minute to make it 2–1. In the second half, Ronaldo created a few chances, including a powerful header that hit the post.
Al Nassr increased the pressure, but in the 76th minute, Yenaga scored for Kawasaki, effectively sealing their place in the final. Although Yahya scored from long range in the 87th minute to revive some hope for Al Nassr, a stoppage-time free-kick from Ronaldo was brilliantly saved by the Kawasaki goalkeeper.
Al Nassr ultimately exited the tournament with a 2–3 defeat.
Kawasaki will now face fellow Saudi club Al Ahli in the final on Saturday, May 3, after Al Ahli defeated Al Hilal in the other semifinal.
