Why relations would be affected if we talk about rights: Fakhrul
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has raised question saying to the Prime Minister that, why relations with India would be affected if we talk about our rights?
Criticizing Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s recent india visit Fakhrul said this at an iftar mahfil organized by National Peoples’ Party (NPP) at a city hotel on Saturday.
He said, Prime Minister has gone to Shantiniketan. She inaugurated Bangladesh Bhaban there. But why we can’t talk about our rights? We have seen on the newspapers that the premier said, ‘Do not want to ruin the atmosphere of friendship at the moment mentioning the problems.’ Why this would happen?
Fakhrul said, should we forget the water issue sighting the relation? We are being informed about solving Teesta water sharing issue for the last ten years. But that was not done. We want very good relation with India but not through giving up our interest. People will not accept if we relinquish our interest.
On anti narcotic drives he said, drugs cannot be eradicated by killing people. It needs social movement to counter. Tackle your own home because key patrons are from there.
About Khaleda Zia’s imprisonment he said, government is not allowing her to be freed in different tactics. They are trying to keep her away from election.
Leaders of 20-party alliance including NPP Chairman Dr. Fariduzzaman Farhad and Secretary General Mostafizur Rahman Mostafa were present on the occasion.
