Hasina-Trudeau meeting in Canada to bring back Noor Chowdhury: FM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hold meeting with her Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau to bring back Noor Chowdhury, the fugitive convicted for assassination of Bangabandhu.

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali delivered the information at a press conference held at the foreign ministry in the capital on Tuesday.

The press conference was arranged keeping ahead the visit of Prime Minister in Canada to take part in G7 summit. Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque was also present on the occasion. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will visit Canada to take part in the outreach session of G7 summit scheduled to be held from June 8 to 11.

AH Mahmood Ali said, Prime Minister will seek support of Canada on Rohingya issue while meeting with Justin Trudeau. As well as she will hold discussion on non-persistent trade facilities as Bangladesh has emerged as a developing country.

G7 summit, the alliance of the major economic powerful countries of the world will begin in Canadian city of Quebec from June 8. The outreach session will take place on the concluding day of the two-day summit. In this year’s outreach session 16 heads of government and organization chiefs from the non member states were invited.

Including Bangladesh Prime Minister there are President of Argentina, President of Jamaica, President of Kenya, Prime Minister of Norway, President of Senegal, President of South Africa, Prime Minister of Vietnam, Secretary General of United Nations, Managing Director of IMF and CEO of World Bank in the list who will join it.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also took part in the outreach session of last G7 summit held in Japan in 2016. USA, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and Italy are the member countries of G7.
